When asked his opinion of the Iran-Iraq War, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger reportedly commented: “It’s a shame they can’t both lose.” Sensible observers should have the same reaction to the nutty, alt-right protestors planning to assemble in another “Unite the Right” rally in the nation’s capital, and to the pathetic thugs with Antifa and “Black Lives Matter” who plan to confront them on the streets in a degrading, destructive, utterly pointless confrontation.

Marching around with Nazi regalia and Confederate flags does nothing to advance the conservative cause or assist the Trump agenda, while responding to such foolish displays with violence against courageous police officers only disgraces the loony left. Wouldn’t both sides – and the country at large – be better off if they stayed home and enjoyed what remains of the summer, leaving the Washington streets to tourist families and peaceful patriots?
