An Unreasonable (and Ignorant) “Day of Reason”

day of reason

The mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina undermined the recent National Day of Prayer by honoring demands of atheist activists and proclaiming that date an official “Day of Reason.”

The proclamation by Anthony Foxx, who’s been named the new Secretary of Transportation by President Obama, seemed to dismiss religion by insisting that “the application of reason, more than any other means, has proven to offer hope for human survival.” Mayor Foxx apparently forgot about the most prominent historical experiments attempting to replace faith with “reason.”

In France, ruling revolutionaries sacked churches and cathedrals, re-branding them as “Temples of Reason” while slaughtering tens of thousands. And in Bolshevik Russia, Communists converted religious sites into “Museums of Scientific Atheism” and murdered millions. “Reason” as understood by atheists hardly represents the best “hope for human survival” and advancement.

I have all kinds of evidence that God exists. Namely such things presented by Creation Evidence Museum and Jonathan Cahn’s book, “The Harbinger” which shows the reality that God is dealing with America. You would have to be a fool, Bible says that a fool in his heart believes there is no God. I have searched for such evidences to be able to present proofs of God’s involvement with man. Interestingly enough, a Jewish gentleman by the name of Zola Levitt investigated the Seven Feasts (now 8) of Israel as being related to the development of the fetus in the womb. Simply order from Zola Levitt Ministries a short paper back book called “the Seven Feasts” and read the article of “A Child is Given” at the Back of the Booklet and it is only $3. Also knowing God is the “Wonderful Numberer”, Check out Ivan Panin’s 43000 pages of numerical research on what he called Bible Numerics. Another factor with similar research is called “Theomatics” by Dell Washburn. Of course we do not want to forget the Bible Code itself. You can gain more information from http://www.BibleCodeDigest.com about codes that extend over 5000 letters from one book to another because God would know which books would be Canonized. Boy have I got proof!

It stands to reason that once the world is purged of everything and everyone unreasonable, then it will be a utopia only Lennon (John or Vladimir of a different spelling) could imagine. I’m confident that once the world is free of religious faith, the reasonable would quickly find another group to persecute from within there own ranks.

While I agree with Michael’s argument, I would never hitch my horse to the “Bible Code” or anything that outlandish. In my experience, the minute anyone starts digging for facts to support faith, they’ve already missed the point.

Well, this is entirely dependent on how one defines reason. A Day of Reason maybe synonymous with a Day of Prayer, depending on the premises. After all, if God had created the entire universe and is willing to tolerate on excessive wickedness and shortcomings, it reasonable to devote a day to thank Him. Is this the standard Mayor Foxx is advocating? Unlikely.

The National Day of Prayer is a continuation of the Fast Days once proclaimed by George Washington, John Adams, and Abraham Lincoln along with National Days of Thanksgiving. If we celebrate the National Day of Thanksgiving every November, we certainly ought to respect the National Day of Prayer.

Its good to be reasonable. Both Religious and non religious people have been unreasonable
in human History. Mass murder has occurred in the name of Aesthetic movements as
well as Christian and other religions. Lets be reasonable here and stop being so
wrapped up in our own dogmatic views

    • Larry Good  •  May 11, 2013 at 8:16 pm

So Joe, you deny the historical fact that Communism under Lenin, a form of government that was responsible for the murders of some 20 million of its citizens, and which form was decidedly anti-religion, was a total failure? Human nature without the morals that religion teaches inevitably leads to mass murder as those in power seek to maintain their control thru any means necessary, justifying the “reasonableness” of their actions via an ends-justify-the-means because they, not the populace, know what is best for everyone! Have you not read how reasonable Hitler made persecution of the Jews sound to ordinary Germans during the 1930’s; he did it in incremental steps, til the populace thought of Jews as non-human, after which he could do anything he wanted with them without public outrage. If you believe so much in human reason, why don’t you move to a town/city/state without any law enforcement whatsoever? If you survived, you might be able to prove your point. But I doubt you believe your own drivel enough to actually bet your life on it!

Yahweh is a Person of Reason. Read Isaiah “Come let us reason….” Do a search on a computerized “bible” for the words- knowledge-know-understand-see-hear-think…. et cetera.
In the beginning was the Word (knowledge information) and the Word was with God and the Word was (is) God. Knowledge and reason are why we trust (faith) God and his words.
There is no “faith” without a reasonable knowledge of what you believe to be true or the Truth.

The DVD The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement based on the bestseller “The Harbinger” which parallels Israel’s history with our nation’s down to the exact kind of tree is chilling but reveals what is really important! See the Inaugural Presidential Prayer Breakfast with Jonathan Cahn, author of “The Harbinger” which reveals which issues are important!
    Enjoy…
Also see the Presidential Prayer Breakfast with Dr. Ben Carson, and
Evan Sayet’s works… 16 very short videos or test or both on http://www.heritage.org
And the free full movie “Agenda, Grinding Down America” with legislator Chris Bowers
And the free book “The Law” by Frederic Bastiat ~ absolutely essential to complete a liberal education ~ will order thinking while not necessarily changing your mind…
Enjoy… combination moves, DVDs, videos and books combing to reveal vital empirical prima facie forensic evidence and related facts that lead you to the truth ~ or not? Regardless, proclaiming the truth is not hateful, and it is not bigotry. It is simply the truth and it’s up to you to decide what you do with it. That is if you continue to have liberty, freedom, and other rights…
    or not?

Faith means trust. It doesn’t mean believing without evidence. There is plenty of evidence for God and the historicity of Jesus Christ. After seeing all the evidence, not suppressing it like atheists do, I went from atheism to theism and trust in Jesus Christ! True faith, facts, and reason go together. If I see evidence of intelligent design, I believe that empirical evidence. I don’t deny it like atheists do and say things just look designed!

Comes down to Faith – some have it and others do not.

Only those willfully blinded to the history of science and intellectualism will declare faith and reason incompatible. A simple internet search with key words like Christian and scientist or philospher or mathematician (or similar words) will pull up ample evidence that many of the world’s greatest minds were, in fact, Christians or at the very least of deistic faith. If nothing existed in the beginning, nothing would continue to exist. Nothing cannot beget something. That defies logic and the law of non-contradiction. The proposition for God is rational and reasonable. The activity surrounding creation abounds in evidence that a supernatural first cause (God) was at work. Matter not only exploded into existence at T-0 of the “Big Bang” but it was of such magnificent value with respect to mathematics and various scientific disciplines that any atheistic notion borders on idiocy. Every mathematical discipline from algebra to geometry, trigonometry to calculus was put into motion; every pure science to include laws of physics, gravity, electromagnetism, fluids, chemicals, atomic structure, and on and on – all came into existence. All of this is clear evidence that an Intelligence beyond the scope of our universe, beyond time itself, exists.

To deny God is to look at the Sistine Chapel and wonder how nature carved the structure and managed to put art on the ceilings. That would be an absurdity. It’s time to confront these simple-minded godless relativists for what they are: deniers of truth whose true motive rests in their wicked pride and desire to raise a fist of rebellion against the Creator. They hate the idea of the Biblical God because it causes them to have to confront the uncomfortable ideas of sin, morality, eternal truth, justice, and the proposition of a heaven and hell. God built a conscience into man. All men naturally know it is wrong to murder, steal, rape, and lie. Why is that? Just more proof of a Living God who has sent His Savior Son to save His people from their sins. Those who are His will hear His call and turn from their evil ways and repent through Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ). God give us ears to hear in this dark hour!

Where does it all end, who are these people who think they know who
God is., or is not. He is everywhere just look around see how far we have come. Hard work and relgion. too many athiest I suppose. One day they may call on God and he won”t be there as it is happening now. How do we pull it together? The devil is showing his powers and the idiots are falling for it. By The way Forgive Them Lord, because they are all STUPID!!!!!
    God Bless America.

Miike Medved, you are one of the examples (best) of God’s creations Thank You for not letting the nation down.

Foxx was exercising his 1st Amendment Rights just like the people who pull together the Day of Prayers. Don’t see what the problem is in a free and secular nation.
