Out-of-Focus on Guns—and Syria

The Obama administration’s out-of-focus approach to Syrian war crimes reflects its similarly misguided response to mass killings within the United States.

The president concentrates on weapons used to do evil, rather than the criminals who perpetrate the butchery. Even if the Assad regime renounces chemical weapons and promises to destroy them, then that would make the dictator only marginally less dangerous. After all, the great majority of his 100,000 recent victims died through deployment of conventional weapons.

Similarly, new rules to control so-called assault rifles in American cities will do little to curb the bloodshed; thugs bent on murder will find other ways to slaughter innocents, in Chicago as well as Damascus. The right approach for foreign policy as well as domestic crime-fighting means focusing on criminals, not their tools.

Right on! The conservatives have made this point I don’t know how many times, but the Dems either can’t or won’t get it.

I seem to be confused about “conservative” foreign policy ideas. Conservatives
traditionally did not want the US policing the world ….now it seems we get complaints
when US doesnt police the middleeast by entering more police actions….such as
Libiya and Syria….It seems as though they want the US to be a bigger police force
in areas that do not concern our interests. Should we invite troops from other countries
in to help after the Navy Yard shootings? If we dont expect troops from Switzerland or
Thailand for example to come over here and help us after the Boston Marathon shootings
why should we continually go through self searching moments when we dont police such
places as Syria? I agree with President Obama in the Syrian lack of military response since
the world in coalition did not support the US in opposing the revulsive Syran gassings….It was
wise to not go it alone…..I dont believe we can afford it…why do conservatives want to push us into more conflict? Seems like we would be interested in leaving sectarian conflicts like
in Afganistan and Iraq….rather than entering into others.

Those in the GOP who want US to be the worlds policemen are not conservatives, they are progressives or RINOs who have infiltrated the party! We need to vote them all out. That’s why frauds like McCain & his bud Grahm side with bo against more conservative, true Republicans.
