How to Beat Planned Parenthood

To win the battle over funds for Planned Parenthood, conservatives must make clear that we’re trying to end government sponsorship, not destroy the organization. Federal money provides only a third of the Planned Parenthood operating budget: the rest comes from donations and fees for services.

Those who admire the organization could increase those donations to replace governmental support—a total of $528 million, when state contributions are included. Even though Planned Parenthood insists that these funds don’t go directly to pay for abortions, they do support an advocacy organization that strongly backs abortion in public debate. Imagine how outraged liberals would be if millions in taxpayer money went to a group advocating strongly for a pro-life position!

Especially in view of the horrifying videos showing the callousness of Planned Parenthood operatives, this cause must unify values conservatives who care about defending life, and economic conservatives who want to cut wasteful, misdirected spending.

so your saying if planned parenthood is destroying
life,it should be done with private donations

Mark Levin/Breitbart recently brought to light that the Republican party just passed continued funding for Planned Parenthood. There is no difference in practice between the Republican and Democratic party in Congress, Senate and the White House. Still waiting for the Republicans to follow through on their promise to eliminate Obamacare.

      HI Greg,
Note Michael says, “to win the battle.” Our goal should be to win this one battle–ending government support for Planned Parenthood would be a huge step forward, but it’s just the first step. If we try to abolish Planned Parenthood–which we can’t do anyway–we’ll get bogged down in a debate over the other services Planned Parenthood provides, and instead of a focus on the horror of abortion it will be all about “Republicans want to take away birth control.” Michael is, as ever, spot on in his strategy. Let’s win this first battle, because as long as we focus like a lazar beam on the abortion side of Planned Parenthood, we can end government funding, and then more of the private donations will dry up too.

Greg – It shouldn’t be done at all, but if it does exist, it should be funded by individuals, not government or taxpayer $$s.

Kudos to Audrey and Val. Eliminating the $500 Million+ in government support would be a good first step.
And the Left’s argument that the money does not go abortions ignores a basic reality. Since cash is “fungible” as they say, when PP gets $500 Million for “other services” they can shift some of their “other money” into doing more abortions.

You either have a high view of life or you don’t; but God has a high view of life (1. If God doesn’t exist objective moral values and duties don’t exist 2. Objective moral values and duties do exist 3. Therefore God exists). Nothing is that which rocks still think about. Further, the God Who is there knows the difference between ethics and mores. There has existed since the Fall a battle between actual good and evil that may not be resolved in our brief lifetime and the baton must be passed to the next generation. A real space-time Fall explains things philosophy can never explain……mt

Sorry Mal, but although I like God too, your deductive syllogism is still invalid. I think a logic course might help you with that.

My biggest concern is that the continued showing of the Planned Parenthood atrocities will harden the hearts of many thus diminishing the appalling practices that we are attempting to stop. We are just human and are already on the wrong side of the slippery slope. Look at the other issues of our moral decay, gay marriages, too much sex education in our schools that is taught with the gay lifestyle included, the word “illegal” is becoming just about meaningless.
I agree with Audrey that we need to win one battle at a time and kill the PP Govt. funding..

Michael, we all know that you logically can be pro-choice and still be steadfastly opposed to funding abortion and Planned Parenthood for that and other reason, e.g. Its Founder’s roots in the eugenics movement, extension of services to minors without parental knowledge (let alone permission), etc.

However, it is an evil organization and pro-lifers are not obliged to truncate their valid and logical arguments against Planned Parenthood’s operations generally as a political tactic to end it’s funding.

Let the whole case against this organization be laid bare in the sunlight. Why not?

Anyone who supports PP’s continued funding after these revelations doesn’t have a conscience worth a warm bucket if spit anyhow.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I DO want to destroy the Planned Parenthood Monster.

    • Brian Harmon, Retired Econ Professor  •  Sep 5, 2015 at 6:32 pm

I agree with your sentiment, the question is: How do we go about destroying it?
Passing a law against PP would be unconstitutional, as would murdering or kidnapping its members. Protest marching don’t seem to do much good. Cutting off government funding would be a good start, right?

C’mon now… i respect your perspective but you have lately taken up the wrong causes. The show today brought back some sanity by exposing the extreme right talking points and asking the right questions to the loonies who call in. However, one point: can we first ask all anti-abortion screamers to first agree to provide for every child that is born where an abortion was desired? The group will shrink at light speed!

There is a waiting line years long to adopt babies in this country. That is not the problem.
