Impeachment Push Promotes Pence
Why are Congressional Democrats so insanely determined to install Mike Pence as President of the United States? That’s the real question behind the reckless, irresponsible push to impeach Donald Trump and remove him from office.
Even in the utterly unlikely event that the impeachment platoons persuade 20 Republican Senators to vote against a president of their own party, and thereby drive Trump from the presidency, that would make Vice President Pence the new chief executive—and the prohibitive favorite to win the 2020 election.
He would surely run as a calming, unifying force at a time of painful polarization, together with his likely running mate—former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, the first woman of color on a national ticket.
In the midst of their feverish impeachment fantasies, progressives should consider the ultimate consequences. It’s not a sure thing that Trump will win, but it’s dead certain the Democrats would lose.
