Over-confident Democrats take comfort in the history of mid-term elections in a new president’s first term: for nearly two centuries, the party in power almost always loses seats in Congress.

But Republicans should feel encouraged by the only exception to that rule since FDR: in 2002, George W. Bush defied history and Republicans gained strength in both the House and Senate. Low expectations for Bush in foreign policy meant that his strong response to 9/11 and early successes in Afghanistan looked especially impressive.

If President Trump makes serious progress in upcoming Korea negotiations, he too could beat expectations and powerfully improve GOP prospects. Already, foreign leaders like South Korea’s Moon are promoting Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize and such talk could intensify as the election approaches.

Reduced tensions on the Korean Peninsula would be good for the world, good for America and great for embattled GOP candidates in House and Senate races.

This is a great observation on Trump's current situation. From your pen to God's ears!

As someone that lives in the cross hairs of N. Korea (Hawaii), I hope Trump pulls this off. I also hope that there's finally peace for Israel.

Of course, if those things happened, they'd still find a reason to impeach Trump and the noble peace prize? When they gave it to Obama, they lost all credibility.

But maybe, just maybe the GOP will keep Congress and we can undo some of the problems Obama created in his 8 years.

The GOP missed a golden opportunity to repeal o-care and failed miserably. Until the GOP governs like conservatives, they're worthless.

Just imagine what Trump could accomplish if he wasn't staying up later Twittering most of the night.

Just think what he could accomplish if he wasn't having to fight this modern-day, red-scare, witch-hunt.
This attempt at a silent coup is unprecedented in US History.

No one should get their hopes up. Kim Jun Un is the world's most perfect atheist, caring nothing for his people's plight. Kim seeks only his own security and comfort. He will never give up his nuclear weapons projects. He will leverage the "possibility of peace" to get concessions. He will make promises that he has no intention of keeping. As he covets the wealth of the South, his greatest desire is reunification of the Korean peninsula under his direction, of course. If he can convince the U.S. to withdraw their forces from South Korea, the war he can win will certainly come quickly. I don't believe President Trump, John Bolton, or Mike Pompeo will be fooled, however, and the status quo will continue.
