Liberals seek government bans on therapeutic help for people who want to change from gay to straight at the same time they want government sponsorship for radical surgery to change people from male to female. This is the height of hypocrisy: yes, therapy will often fail at transforming someone’s sexual orientation but surgery will always fail at changing someone’s gender. Dr. Paul McHugh, former chief psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins University, writes that “’sex change’ is biologically impossible” and cites several long-term studies suggesting that so-called gender-reassignment surgery often harms patients far more than it helps them. No, government shouldn’t ban the procedure, but it shouldn’t use taxpayer money to sponsor it either. By the same token, government shouldn’t fund controversial reparative therapy to suppress homosexual inclinations, but it shouldn’t ban it for those who seek such help.

President Obama will issue an executive order requiring that all companies who contract with the federal government, including religious organizations, must propagate homosexuality or they cannot do business with the federal government. This is blatant discrimination against religious organizations, a violation of human rights under natural law for a free moral conscience, and a violation of the their Constitutional freedom of religion. But it’s happening nonetheless. Already pedophilia and bestiality groups are clamoring for the exact same special rights and privileges as homosexuals now receive and for religious organizations not accepting their immoral behaviors to be denied access to contract with the federal government as well. After all they are “born that way” too and it’s discriminatory not to force everyone to accept their behaviors as well in “progressive” logic.

Michael – Long time listener, from back when you were just local on KVI. I personally know a number of FTM transgender persons, it is very real, they are genuine and do deserve acceptance. Yes I agree that their DNA presents male, but their identity is really female. I think it is best for society for them to live as they desire.

At the same time I do not think there should be special accommodation for them and issues like bathrooms etc need to be resolved where all sides are equally considered, instead of the stampede that happens often these days.

“Ronald Reagan may have done laudable things but he was also a monster and, in my estimation, responsible for more deaths than Adolf Hitler. He is one of the persons most responsible for allowing the plague of AIDS to grow from 41 cases in 1981 to over 70 million today. He refused to even say the word out loud for the first seven years of his presidency and when he did speak about it it was with disdain. He was, in the words of his domestic policy adviser, Gary Bauer, “irrevocably opposed to anything having to do with homosexuality” (personal communication with me in his White House office in April of 1983).”

“But, unlike some modern Christians, Jesus does not see this as the only honorable way to live. He acknowledges that some human beings have been created by God to follow a less common, but equally legitimate path. There are some who have been eunuchs from birth — made that way by God.”

In some cases, people are born with mixed up chromosomes, or are exposed to too much testosterone or estrogen while their brain is developing in utero. This can lead to people being unsure or unhappy with their gender identity. In cases where you can get a doctor to show a MEDICAL NEED for corrective surgery, I would support it. “Just because I feel like it” is not a good enough reason.
