THE MEANING OF JULIAN CASTRO

Julian Castro at his appointment to HUD Secretary

The appointment of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is seen as grooming for his selection as Democratic nominee for Vice President in 2016. Democrats worry that with two white candidates on their ticket they might lose the three-to-one advantage among non-white voters that Obama needed to win. Romney won the white vote by 20 points and if Obama had earned just the 70% non-white support more normal for Democratic candidates he would have lost the popular vote. Democrats feel vulnerable since two of the GOP’s youthful frontrunners – Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz – are Hispanic Americans and another serious contender, Bobby Jindal, is Asian-American. Jeb Bush’s wife of 40 years is a Mexican-born, naturalized US citizen. It won’t be easy to stigmatize Republicans in 2016 as a stuffy party of old white guys.

Well that’s the way Republicans are acting. All so nipping at the bit to get that Hispanic vote that they are willing to give amnesty. Makes me sick. What will they do when they lose us? And still don’t have the Hispanic vote? Because they won’t get the Hispanic vote …even with amnesty.

Agree with everything except the last sentence.

“It won’t be easy to stigmatize Republicans in 2016 as a stuffy party of old white guys.”

The operative demographic you site, “non-white voters” are most likely a sub-set of swing voters. (Irrespective of race, non-base, Dem or Rep citizens who make their voting decisions in the last 3 weeks of a campaign)

Again, irrespective of race, in an election cycle, swing voters opt-out of the political media information discourse, until the last moment. Not blaming anyone for that, but I think it makes them especially vulnerable to the mainstream media’s left-leveraged political motivations.

That “off-the-books” political advertising (By MSM) will paint Rubio, Cruz, and Jindal, as fringe driven pawns of GOP miscreants, heavily weighted toward an implied racial agenda.

Jeb Bush will be portrayed as nothing but the brother of George W. Bush, “arch conservative”. Any positive information about Latino Bush family members will be omitted.

Those “info-images” will be endlessly repeated (By MSM) during the crucial final weeks of the campaign, and unfortunately, I think they will be very successful.

Julian would make a great replacement for Fidel. Fidel is probably his middle name. Politics are the same and look at those eyes. Vicious.

It will be easy to stigmatize the republicans as the party of old
white guys……IF they run two white guys. I still think Romney
would have had a greater chance had he run with Secretary Rice..
if she would have run….It just makes political sense ….he gained
nothing with Ryan….it was like he chose a carbon copy of himself…
not wise in a diverse culture like todays America…
