The media frenzy about a purported race “crisis” due to white cops killing young black males ignores basic facts. There is no evidence at all of a dramatic surge in police violence against blacks: Justice Department numbers show a steady average of less than 100 such deaths per year.

Of course, every unnecessary loss is a tragedy, but the obsessive focus on deadly confrontations between African-Americans and police creates fear and hostility that only make other confrontations more likely. It also hides dramatic progress: in the last few years, African Americans were three times more likely to win admission to Yale or Harvard than to die at the hands of a police officer. The number of blacks with college diplomas—Associates, Bachelor’s degrees or higher—was seven times greater than the number currently incarcerated in jails or prisons.

Now that’s success worth celebrating.

It’s so great black people has Michael Medved to tell them what they should be concerned about most.

How could they do it without him?

Um, wow, William. Talk about utterly missing Michael’s point!

The media are talking about violence against black Americans because that’s the conversation most black Americans want to have right now. That’s what they’re concerned with, and that’s what they want America to face.

The reason why Michael Medved is bringing this up is because it’s a hard, difficult conversation to have. He’d much rather talk about successful black Americans, because that’s an easy conversation to have (there are many, many of them).

But guess what, Michael? You don’t get to decide what black Americans talk about.

Most historians agree there is just as much evidence that the Biblical Jesus is a historical figure as for Julius Caesar. Many claim that there is more evidence for Jesus than for Julies Caesar. There’s lots of archaological evidence backing up the Bible but none to back up the Book of Mormon.

Why not have a guest with a Ph.D. in history such as Gary Pranger whose undergraduate degree is from Illinois State & Ph.D. from the University of Illinois?

    I knew Gary at Illinois State 72 – 76.

Ask Gary to talk about the history which verifies that Jesus is a historic figure.

Josh McDowall’s book, Evidence which Demands a Verdict also discusses this.

Why was the NYPD even concerned with a guy who was selling a few cigarettes on the street corner?

It turns out that that the state of NY derives $4.35 in taxes from each pack of cigarettes that are sold and the city derives $1.50 from the same pack. Beginning this year the Governor and Mayor and the City Council wanted a crackdown on unlicensed sellers of cigarettes and passed laws making it a crime to sell cigarettes without a license,

Rather than focus on serious crime the police were then ordered to enforce these laws which amounted to nothing more than a tax collecting scheme as only licensed sellers would collect the tax and pass the money onto the state and city. When people like Eric Garner sold cigarettes on the street the state and city were deprived on tax revenue.

This entire sequence of events that led to Eric Garner’s unfortunate death were set in motion by the same politicians who are now blaming the police and complaining the loudest.

Just wondering why this is not being covered in the media.

And William, the reason black Americans and the media want to dwell on the one black person out of seventy that is killed by someone other than another black person while ignoring the 69 that are murdered by other blacks is because when you point your finger at someone else, three fingers are pointing back at you.
