No Real Diversity

Fashion students being attentive in class

The University of Missouri has become the latest academic institution to require all students to take three credit hours of “Diversity Intensive” instruction: classes that emphasize “inequities” facing racial, sexual, national and disability groups that have been designated as disadvantaged minorities.

While students can benefit from a broad education exposing them to unfamiliar traditions and values, universities make scant effort to provide diversity regarding political or religious ideology. It’s easy to graduate from a four-year college with no exposure at all to conservative ideas about economics and government, and no encounter with traditional Biblical teachings.

Looking at exotic cultures or persecuted victim groups may be intriguing, but most of today’s collegians get their degrees without firm grounding in the culture and history of their own American society: the most prosperous, powerful and liberty-loving nation in all human history.

It's just more Liberal thugs forcing mob rule government down the throats of good people through intimidation and threat from literally pre-school to the end of life. This is all funded with tax payer money of course but the Republican cowards WILL NEVER UTTER A REBUTTAL OR REBUTE OF THESE TOTALITARIAN TACTICS. They sit on their collective fat butt, cowering in a corner, waiting for the next incoming assault on the Republic to explode.
Obama was telling the world that Iran has dismantled their nuclear program today and the oceans are starting to recede and unemployment is 0% and he has never lied and he's compassionate and has saved every starving children ……. Did yuh verify, B? Didn't need to? I see? Trust you and the Ayatollah?
Michael, since the Republicans won't mention this ever again for fear of being called a racist, would you mention it on your program today? Or is it too provocative?
Another topic: Why do liberals love giving nukes to terrorist countries but won't allow the construction of one nuclear power plant in America. Or do you want to talk about why Americans are angry when everything here is soooo wonderful right now.

Since the education system has managed to teach the sheep to believe just what they "preach" and not seek other points of view let alone seek the moral and ethical truth on so many issues, we have virtually no chance of beating Hillary. Four more years of devastating this country and there will be nothing but unemployment and massive unrest as we run out of people paying taxes that support the surfs that voted for more free stuff.

Its serfs Bob. If you are going to wax philosophical please use proper grammar next time. We have a limited chance to beat the Dems because the party is overrun with religious lunatics and all we can offer is divisiveness and vitriol.

*It's (Please use proper grammar while correcting Bob's grammar)

Students should not be required to pay for or spend their time and efforts to attend a mandatory class that is nothing but trying to support one view point. Even if it supported both sides of the issues, students should not be required to take this class. In a free society you can be required to pay for and attend a class with "someone's" idea of how things should be ???

After years of trying to understand minorities, isn't it time they try to understand Whites? After all, most Whites suffer bullying, bigotry, sexism, poverty too. Many try to gain riches via drugs, music, sports, just like their Black brotherhood. But unlike Blacks, Whites do not have priority privilege of entry into colleges, promotions, and handy excuses for bad behavior.

This inequality of races has cause much White anger and is the bases (I believe) of Trump support. If Blacks don't get off their victim perch and quit demanding privileges based on the color of their skin, there WILL be a backlash that won't be pretty. If academia don't quit preaching this inequity, they will not only create a group of angry minorities believing they are entitled, but a group of Whites who outnumber them and WILL seek to crush everything that has been accomplished and won in the name of race equality.

No I'm not White and no this isn't a threat. It's just common sense. How long does anyone believe that one segment of our generation of equality taught people going to take what is clearly race based programs?

You better be careful… You sound like someone who could be easily painted as a racist, KKK, Republican.
I guess you can get away with such language….. As you indicated, you are not white, so by definition you can't be racist.

A life long conservative I recently asked my 3 children, ages 28-35 and their spouses, what their initial impressions are of the Republican party these days. Their answers were disappointing but on further questioning left me with the distinct feeling that they are more moderate, even conservative, than they realize. What i did come to understand is why the party is having the problems it is in the wake of Donald Trump. True, conservative republicans are fed up with seemingly feckless attitude of the party leaders, but moreover they have let the democrats define the party in terms that are far from accurate. Our party leaders have let them get away with it for years and our young people are proof that it has stuck. The democratic leadership has been ruthless in defining conservatives as racists, homophobic, misogynistic, etc….. with little response of equal intensity or effectively correcting the record. Even many republicans don't know what they stand for anymore.
My other conclusion is that this was inevitable given the demands that a truly free and democratic society must endure to be of lasting value. The vision of the founding fathers was truly unique and possible even divinely driven.

Ridiculous. Is it true that Missouri is looking at 1200 freshman shortfall this upcoming Fall due to their radical stupidity?

    • Rizzo  •  Apr 2, 2016 at 7:43 am

I would NEVER send my kids to that JOKE of a school.
It is a classic example of the inmates running the asylum.

The real problem with this is the assumption that there has ever been a lack of diversity. This country has been a mixture of Dutch,English,Scottish,German,Swiss,Irish,Native Americans,French ,African Americans before the revolution. The problem is the self serving interest groups that want to insult us by classifying us as one giant conspiring evil ignorant race as this school does. The biggest threat to diversity is our unprotected border is letting one country monopolize the mix of cultures we try to let into our country, that is not diversity!
