Obama’s “Dream” and the Abortion Nightmare

Barack Obama won the presidency in large part through promises to unify America and close painful gaps in our society. Unfortunately, he missed an important chance to advance that process on the recent 41st anniversary of the Roe Vs. Wade decision on abortion. The president could have acknowledged the thousands of sincere, idealistic people who braved the cold in the annual March for Life, and bore witness to the 56 million babies legally “terminated” since 1973.

Why not say he shared their goal of reducing the rate of abortion as much as possible?

Instead, he issued a sloppy, tone-deaf statement praising “the right to reproductive freedom… because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”

Is getting an abortion really the sort of dream that Americans yearn to fulfill?

Makes ya kinda sick just thinking about it, doesn’t it?

If only we could focus on strengthening the family, educating the populace, and increasing personal responsibility such that there would be no unwanted pregnancies and, therefore, no need for extreme measures like abortion.

    We’re amputating the wrong limb.

“Why not say he shared their goal of reducing the rate of abortion as much as possible?”

That might be the absolute most important key statement in unifying the left and the right. The left can believe in what they want… “the right to reproductive freedom… because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”
AND they are in agreement to reducing abortions. So, maybe get them on the side of reducing abortions. Not whether or not you CAN have an abortion. Get the conversation going that they can do all they can to help “reduce” abortions. The Pro Life has worked very hard with the youth in teaching the value of abstinence and it may at some degree I think it may be working. (I don’t know the stats). In our society today a woman is not looked down upon for getting pregnant out of wedlock. Maybe we can further that by increasing awareness for adoption an how important it is for the child to have a secure home environment..

This could bring the gap together and get the left into agreeing to something the right believes in!

“the right to reproductive freedom… because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.” – except humans alive but not yet born of course. They can’t vote so they don’t get any rights, unalienable or other.

Pretty soon they will change the word “abortion” to “eviction”.

“Pretty soon they will change the word ‘abortion’ to ‘eviction’.”

Best not to give them any ideas.

Abortions are at the lowest rate in decades and are preformed earlier in pregnancy then ever before. If you don’t like abortion then you must be really mad at god. He is the biggest abortionist of all. If you want to make a big moral issue of this, be consistent. That would me no abortion period. If a 48 year old woman battling breast cancer got pregnant by being raped by her son she must give birth even if the baby will have Down syndrome. Most jewish people don’t give a shit about this issue. You are just playing to your base.

I can still remember all that semper phi BS you spewed forth about your son. As it turned out someone else died in his place in Afghanistan or Iraq. The last time I googled Danny medved he was playing a ukulele in Israel while soldiers died. Your only value is money couched in religious piety. But that won’t help much according to evangelicals who claim Jesus is the only salivation.

Hey, guess who, my guess is that you’re a nutcase. Something tells me I’m right.

“If you don’t like abortion then you must be really mad at god. He is the biggest abortionist of all.”

So, miscarriage justifies abortion. Do natural deaths justify murder?

“I can still remember all that semper phi BS you spewed forth about your son. As it turned out someone else died in his place in Afghanistan or Iraq. The last time I googled Danny medved he was playing a ukulele in Israel while soldiers died.

Danny is old enough to make his own decisions. Don’t be blaming this on Michael.

All in all, I must agree with Andrew. Something tells me that we’re right too.

Hate to even acknowledge Guess Who here but there is zero connection between Down Syndrome and incest.

People with Down Syndrome are a whole lot kinder and contribute much more to our society than most internet trolls.

    • Danny Medved  •  Feb 11, 2015 at 6:10 pm

Hello “Guess who.” It’s me, Danny Medved.

I don’t really see the connection between abortion and the year that I spent studying at religious seminary in Israel.

When I was younger I did have a fervent desire to serve in our armed forces. I still have the deepest respect and admiration for those that choose to serve. As I grew older I realized that I had different professional aspirations. My father serves as a living example of how one can serve their country outside of the military, and I hope to do so.

I’m glad that you’re staying informed by listening to the Michael Medved Show. I hope that in the future you endeavor to engage in respectful, calm, and meaningful debate here in the comments section.

When we elect amoral people to public office we should not be surprised when they are, er, amoral.

  6. Guess who  •  Feb 6, 2014 at 6:08 pm

Correct Bruce. W being proof of that. You righties are so quick to get on your knees before Medved, a jew, who by definition rejects Jesus, but reject Ibama a Christian born in Hawaii USA unlike the Canadian Cruz.

But a Bill Maher states “the left has moved to the center and the right has moved into the asylum”. This is why only 27% of folks self identify as republicans.

    • Andrew  •  Feb 6, 2014 at 7:22 pm

Really? You’re going to use a Bill Maher quote to make your point? Sad.

  7. Joan  •  Feb 13, 2014 at 1:09 am

Hey Guess who, your hatred is showing, except for the one you’re so quick to get on your knees before, your anointed one.

This reminds me of the Ham-Nye debate where Ham scolds christians that don’t buy into the young earth theory. to call abortion the killing of babies is so nutty. A fertalized egg is not a baby, nor is a several week old fetus a baby. The real story of abortion is that the levels are the lowest since 1975 and are performed much earlier. Hey thats good. Why all this hand ringing? If you think abortion is murder, than there should be NO abortion without exception, and no one wants.

If Rush and Coulter are so pro life, why dont they get busy and produce some. Like it or not, women want the option and so do men. A majority want the option

    • Rodd Hardmann  •  Feb 14, 2014 at 10:23 am

As a man who has been touched personally by abortion, it would be nice if we could redefine what these terms mean. “Pro-Choice” really means “Pro-Abortion”. Young women facing an unplanned pregnancy are given NO choice by Planned Parenthood… except the one that MAKES THEM THE MOST MONEY. It is the abortion “industry” after all.

“Voice of a moderate”- the science that you hold so dear has come to the inescapable conclusion that life begins at conception, not at some fuzzy point down the road that you can move whenever convenient. A fertilizd egg IS life, as is a fetus, as is a baby, as is a child… as is YOU.

You are correct in saying that “the levels are the lowest since 1975”- actually 1979. But how you can define the 1.2 million lives snuffed out in their mother’s wombs EACH YEAR – those are the most recent stats- as “good” is beyond comprehension.

  9. Guess who  •  Feb 14, 2014 at 12:44 pm

If 1.2 million adults were rounded up and killed we’d be rightfully outraged. As humans we choose when to kill. A lot of people have died in wars that we chose to engage in. I don’t have a problem with that. The reason that people aren’t cataplectic over abortion is because we know the difference between actual life and life in the abstract. And actually life begins at erection. Man and nature create life not god. If everyone stopped having sex there wouldn’t be any humans and god couldn’t do anything about it. If you believe in god.
