Over-Heated Gun Rhetoric Works Against Reform

If pro-life conservatives ever claimed that supporters of Planned Parenthood had “blood on their hands”, the mainstream media would howl in protest. Why, then, do anti-gun activists who make precisely such claims about supporters of the NRA, draw widespread acclaim for their courage and idealism?

The connection between abortion and killing is obvious – even if you deny that the procedure is equivalent to murder. But there’s no connection between backing gun-rights and endorsing killing. Disagreement over specific policy proposals doesn’t mean that those on the other side want to consign our children to early death or, for that matter, to obliterate our Constitutional rights.

Republican leaders in Washington have already moved ahead with common sense enhancements in our gun regulations but hysterical and polarizing rhetoric only makes constructive reform less likely.

What should scare everyone is how the brainwashing has now reached the children, some as young as elementary kids. The idea that there is only one truth and that all others must be shut down reeks of cultism. They are not being taught that what makes us different, special is our ability to challenge, to learn, to DECIDE for ourselves. The unbelievable peer pressure heaped upon these kids to CONFORM is the seed from which a society that has zero freedom and little room for growth.

It begins as with most rights, with the ability to defend oneself. The second amendment is NOT about ARMING oneself; it's about DEFENSE. Defending one's property, one's liberty, one's right to think, feel, believe and be an individual. Strip that away and it's only a matter of time before they come for the rest.

Again, I say to those who demand that we give up our guns, what can I demand of YOU?

I will give up one slice of avocado toast per month for one month. This will only leave me with 59 slices of avocado toast to each each month.

I'm a liberal hipster, not a druggie. I think part of the assault on conservatism is not enough starbucks where conservatives live. It is literally impossible to say the words "I'd like a venti iced caramel macchiato" and not become a little more hipster. We need this civilizing force to move more conservatives away from clutching guns to clutching expresso shots. It's a better life.

Ty – I'll give up my 2nd Amendment when you give up your 1st.

Excellent commentary Nani—such commonsense solutions which would obviously save lives. Unfortunately Dems only believe brainwashing children and open borders will increase their insidious voter base. Their Party only seems to promote hatred and Marxism.
