Patriot Days: November 8th—AND 9th

email Email

Patriots of every perspective have two big days coming up: first, November 8th, election day, when every American who cares about the country has a sacred duty to consider the issues and the candidates, and then to vote. Skipping the election is not an honorable option!

The second big day is November 9th, the day after a fateful choice. At that point, we all have a responsibility to accept the outcome of the election with grace and dignity, and to wish success to the new president, whoever it is.

In 2008, a few prominent commentators made a needless mistake and expressed the wish that Obama would fail. Though they really wanted him to fail in his mission to “transform” America, the public heard it as a wish to see harm to the country.

A successful America requires a successful presidency, and we should hope and pray for the best for President-elect Trump, or President-elect Clinton. That’s what patriots do.

We've known about the "looming crisis" since Obama's first campaign and he fulfilled that promise magnificently. Now you're saying either candidate will destroy the nation. I think you are correct and absolutely nothing can stop their madness since congress is totally useless. What do you think gave such dictatorial powers to the Oval Office? It's obvious, the Tea Party thugs.

The above comment is for the "barely floating pig" one preceding this commentary.

As long as I'm here ——- "A successful America" relies on following rule of law within the constitutional boundadaries of our founding documents. Now that we know that will never happen again by the precendent set by Obama and doubled-down upon by Hillary, we are left between a rock and a hard place. Your principles prevent you from voting for Trump, mine prevent me from wishing well people like Obama and Hillary whose behavior is far beyond disgusting, destructive and detrimental to innocent folks all over the Earth.

Jim Bird – "wishing well" is not what the vote is about. It is far narrower – the choice, and it is an ethical as well as a political one is simply: Which of the two do you prefer? Your post evades that by focusing on the issue as one between someone who has principles preventing a vote for Trump and your inability to 'wish well' Clinton.

Even I, who have compared the two and will vote strongly for Clinton despite my criticisms of her foreign policy and other decisions, do not use my 'principles' to say I would never vote for Trump. If he were running against Hitler, I would vote for Trump (even though Hitler was a better painter 😉 Forgive the gallows humor.).

The frequent demonization of one candidate or the other, hoping to find the 'one thing' that will sway the reader is pointless when one considers the only way to choose between two options is to compare them to each other. It is pointless to go one about one issue or another – we need a spreadsheet of the good and evil of each with a bottom line assessment comparing them. The rest is noise.

The overarching principle guiding our vote should be: which one of the viable candidates do we prefer?

    RE – Disagreement Day

    • Jim Bird  •  Oct 20, 2016 at 6:01 pm

Thank you, Mr. Hanson for you email to Michael on disagreement day.

Michael says we should be happy because Limbaugh said something 8 years ago about Obama that has made most of Michael's listeners angry. Obama has NOT fundamentally changed the country. We have no problems. Hillary is innocent of all crimes and that we are ugly Republican listeners of his and all those decades of democrats spewing their filth about me being a racist homophobe because I'm republican never happened. I AM CONFUSED. But since I'm just stupid and confused, I should be happy. Hell, I'm voting Hillary now! I'm so happy!

You can watch "Hillary's America" on Netflix or rent it from Red Box. Also see "Clinton Cash" on You Tube, both or either before you vote You won't see any updates on Venezuela because of the media bias not wanting you to see what the Democrats have in store for us. The Venezuelan People starving, their money worthless, their corrupt lead being protected by their judiciary. This country is completely controlled under Socialism. This is Hillary's plan, examples of single payer health insurance and making our people subservient to our Government.

Mr. WIlson, Please read my response today to Mr. Bird and tell me what you think of my argument. Basically, I argue that posts like yours are not helpful in deciding who to vote for because it lacks a comprehensive comparison of the two candidates. What you are likely to get in response is someone (not me) parading a "horrible" of equal or greater value about Trump to counter you. And the readers will still lack a comprehensive comparison.

May I suggest you list all the worst and best things about each candidate and then show us why one is better than the other?

Michael, I respectfully disagree. I think in the face of so much fraud, and vote schemes over recent years that we should investigate very thoroughly after the election, and prosecute to the maximum extent. There must be a very public punishment for fraud so it will deter future crimes. Also, if the left sees we will throw their operatives in jail and not just accept a cheaters outcome, they won't be so aggressive and blatant about it, and they won't be able to recruit dupes to do it if they fear prison time. Plus it also assists the public debate of policies like Motor-voter (revoking), voter ID, and not early voting and mail in ballots. These are all tools the left uses to make fraud easy and without punishment. Pretending that we are "too gentlemanly" to engage in the fierce fight that is for the survival of our nation and culture is the same mistake as using appeasement to Hitler. We are not shrinking lilies like Chamberlain. We are culture warriors and patriots. I do not even rule out civil war if the left keep crossing red lines to tear our country apart. We do not accept "Fundamental change". The left cannot "vote in" suicide. Just because they try it doesn't mean we allow them to do it. Especially when they are going tyrant, weaponizing government (IRS, EPA targeting), Currupting Justice, using our tax dollars to reward their friend and get a lock on power. They are not playing by the rules, and this is no game. Our kids could end up in the Gulag because we failed to fight. Economic enslavement at the least. This is the last fight. A Hillary Presidency is not survivable.

JDC Are you aware the Republican Party operates on a consent decree after sending off duty cops with guns to scare off voters in minority neighborhoods. Are you aware of similar court action against Democrats?

  5. Joe burner  •  Oct 28, 2016 at 7:43 pm

Everyone who votes Democrat is destroying this country & the sad fact is you are not only choosing for yourself, but also your vote affects the whole country and everyone in it, so if you care about people, you won't destroy it by voting for a liar who wants to oppress a section of humanity that wants to live by their own convictions (The Religious ) Hillary is not a Christian, You Will Know Them By Their Works !

    • Steve Parsons  •  Oct 29, 2016 at 3:45 pm

Everyone who votes Democrat is saving us from a party that killed 148,000 Iraqis, justified and expanded torture by Americans, and vastly expanded domestic surveillance. Anyone who votes for Clinton is doing the best one can with one's vote to defeat Trump who is a vastly greater danger to democracy and Christianity than Clinton.

Did not the Pope say anyone focused on building walls and excluding whole classes of people is not a Christian? Obviously referring to Trump's Wall and probably to Trump's proposal to put all the Moslem Americans in a database and have the police track them. Is not the Pope a Christian?

As far as being more dangerous than Clinton in protecting the Constitution, here's what people who read the COnstitution more than you or I have to say:

Why is the woman in the voting booth standing backwards?

    • DTS  •  Nov 3, 2016 at 7:09 pm

She may be leaving or adjusting the curtain.
