Ryan’s Retirement Refocuses the Election

email Email

Paul Ryan, a leader of exceptional decency and diligence, is leaving the House of Representatives, but his departure may help his party by refocusing the election in November.

With Ryan’s retirement, the vote in November won’t be about his record of triumphs—including tax reform and repeal of Obamacare’s mandate—or about his disappointments, such as the soaring deficits. Instead, the focus falls on the only other figure in the House well-known enough to motivate millions of voters: Nancy Pelosi. And that focus can only help Republicans, because Pelosi has done nothing to earn new support since her landslide defeat in 2010 following her prior four years as Speaker.

The people of America don’t know much about Kevin McCarthy—Ryan’s likely successor as GOP leader—but they know plenty about Pelosi, and dislike almost all of it. Yes, Republicans can still win!

    "Yes, Republicans can still win!"

Oh Michael, hope springs eternal. I obviously hope the democrats take the house and republicans fall on their face in the senate to let us take that too, though I am not that hopeful for the latter. But there is one possibility I hope for above all else. Please let Beto O'Roarke beat Ted Cruz. It would be the sweetest victory in the world to see that smarmy and insufferable human being lose his seat to a democrat in Texas of all places.

If there is any justice in this world, if God actually exists, prove yourself to me, make this happen and I shall believe!

Yeah, that's what Texas needs alright – a Dem to beat Cruz. Not a chance.

Ty, I doubt whether you would be good to your word, even if your miracle were to happen. The real miracle happened when Trump beat the deep-state campaign to install Hillary Clinton; on that evening, millions were praying that this would happen and their faith was rewarded. Ty, send Cruz a hundred bucks and save yourself the trip to anger management 😉

You're right I would not really become a believer if Ted Cruz lost, but you are wrong about the miracle. Once Trump got the nomination, he had a shot at becoming president.

His REAL feat was coming out on top of 17 republican candidates. The republican party chose TRUMP out of all of their possibilities. The birther in chief, con man taking peoples money from Trump-U, lying about his finances to get loans, p*ssy grabber, the Mexicans are rapists and criminals, but he supposes SOME are good people.

The conservative id, bubbling up from the depths of talk radio, their bitterness and rage, calling for America to be great Again, again when? When there were more white people and less brown people here? When we were poorer as a nation? When we were more openly christian and more constrained by the dictates of social conservatism in society at large? When gays knew their effing place and would keep their mouths shut and stayed in the shadows? When such a deviant was discovered they could be expelled from the military?

Or maybe back to a time before the rust belt lost factory jobs and smaller towns were as destitute. Trump lied a good game there as if he could do something to turn the tide, and people bought his lies.

It's up to the liberals of this world to clean up this mess. And we can start by seeing Ted Cruz go down!

America is already GREATER AGAIN… more so than with Obama.
Unemployment down…. For all colors, cultures, genders, etc.
        Stock Market up.
Standing on the world stage GREATLY IMPROVED.
        Manufacturing coming back.

So, this really has nothing to do with your racist suggestions of skin-color.

        You're just a one-sided, one-track minded lunatic.

When you see yourself as a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

And that's how you view the world…. Through blinders, which filters out all truth and facts. And, only allows in stereotypes and cliches, which cement your narrow minded views.

I still have a hard time when one brings up…….(how wonderful the State of
Israel is)….how humane the JEWISH PEOPLE are…..comforting others and
helping the underpriviledged………what about the USS LIBERTY…?……they were
totally WRONG and they continually ATTACKED even when the SAILORS on the SHIP THEY KNEW WERE USA NAVY…………even one ISRAEL PILOT DITCHED
and landed somewhere else and was captured because he did not go along
with their ORDERS……….along with Israel our PRESIDENT also along with
McNamara ordered the ship SUNK…… they had Viet Nam on their agenda.
So if you can make me feel better about Israel, I would like to hear about it……
    Thank you………

      Uh Elmer…. what's up doc?

Have you ever heard of a "mistake"?
Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity.

Now, lets hear some story about a wascally conspiracy.

Hey rizzo was this just a “mistake” too?
The largest shareholder is the Israeli state who bailed out this criminal bank TWICE

    • Rizzo  •  Apr 28, 2018 at 8:45 am

      And? So?
      Is there a point?
Didn't the US government bailout banks, some of which were criminal banks?
