The “outsider” appeal of Donald Trump’s campaign has been based on two assertions he has repeated in every public appearance: that he’s a peerless entrepreneur worth more than $10 billion, and that he was funding his own campaign while taking no contributions from moneyed special interests. New developments put both claims into question.

First, Trump decided that he will, after all, solicit contributions to raise a billion dollars, and he chose a Goldman Sachs honcho to lead his fundraising.

Second, he told press and public that his tax returns are “none of your business,” suggesting that he may be vastly less wealthy and successful than his boasts had claimed. In fact, the Wall Street Journal reports that his limited resources explain why he’s not able to fund his own campaign, and now has to start soliciting donations.

Those who backed Trump because of his business “genius” and his independence from Wall Street money should reconsider the misleading nature of his whole campaign.

It may have started out with Trump's "billions" but I doubt finding he is a loser and pulling a con will matter.

It has long PAST been about Trump. It's now about US. Supporting or refusing to support a bully will say more about who we are; OUR character and OUR values.

Nani you are right! This isn't about Hillary or Trump this about the true Republican party who stand for principles that are beyond one candidate. We true conservatives need to hold our ground NEVER TRUMP OR HILLARY! This two politicians have New York billionaire values they do not care about us. These Trump supporters are sell-outs get out of our party! Will rebuild our party. God bless America!

It is not about Trump or Hillary its about the Supreme Court. Trump used or loaned the money to his campaign it is a way to write it off tax wise nothing wrong with that.

      • Rizzo  •  May 28, 2016 at 8:55 am

Uconn… You really think Nani is a "true conservative"? Get real!
If your prerequisite for voting is having a "true conservative" candidate, you will probably NEVER VOTE. I assume you didn't vote for McCain or Romney then, right?
Seriously, how gutless and pathetic is your position. It defies all logic.

  2. Rizzo  •  May 18, 2016 at 8:29 am

Nani… Are you really that dumb?
This is isn't about making a statement of "who we are", this is about stopping Hillary and our constant slide toward liberal Hell.
Allowing Hillary to win says a lot about WHO YOU ARE.

Rizzo, Nani is just a Libt@rd troll. And she/he/trans posts it's Neocon and anti-Conservative nonsense here all the time.

The headline read "The Self-funding Billionaire" Scam. The article contained very little details regarding the "scam" in question. I feel as though I was scammed into reading yet another meandering and ineffective attack. Michael seems like he is trying out for the next advisory position with a Bush campaign. Still no article from Michael explaining the money spent on solving problems over the year without solving a single one. Talk about a scam!

  4. Jim Bird  •  May 22, 2016 at 4:51 pm

    Michael,
The ONLY interest we have are columns about the end of the Republic and how it can be stopped. Your last 10 columns attest to that in spades! Just read the numbers, you don't need to read our comments.
It's too late and a complete waste of your time to hammer Trump. I just wished one damn Republican politician would've hammered Obama for eight years, pointing out his atrocities, the way you do Trump now.
But no, the GOP would look bad, the horror! Rubio would be the nominee now instead. We will never will know the truth, will we, how a New York liberal like Trump even got on the nominee list? So, we have a crony capitalist socialist and two Marxists running to replace the Marxist in the White House. Was it blind luck this happened? All the planets were aligned perfectly? Or was it "the perfect storm?"
One thing is for sure, the Republican base constituency will never know because it was break us emotionally; we are far too delicate psychologically to understand the longterm nuanced strategy of the power brokers in the Republican Party. What a pathetic joke the Party has become and we have been telling them for 8 YEARS to do something, any damn thing, to save the country. WHY DID WE KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND NOT THEM???!!!?
Something is rotten somewhere, and guess what, it's too late to explain why because no one cares any longer.

    • Nani  •  May 24, 2016 at 6:45 pm

Jim, we DID hammer Obama. The talk show mafia and Fox pundits complained about everything he said and did. Every politician that did not reject the very breath Obama took was called a RINO or Neocon.

But they ALSO hammered Bush and every GOP all in the name of principles and "being honest". Liberals "sin" and their party close ranks. Conservatives "sin" and their base tars and feathers them. Want to know why Political Correctness works so well? Every time a conservative is called a racist, sexist, or homophobic, the base expects them to apologize. There can be no room for imperfection. For years, we watched as a Republican president RESIGN for his "crime" but a Democrat president that was impeached hung on and is still the media darling. If Bush had been a Democrat, his taking down the rape rooms would have made him a women's hero and giving 2 nations their own Bill of Rights a White Mandela. If GWB had been a Democrat, the MSM, Hollywood, and Academia would be demanding for his likeness on Mt. Rushmore! But a Republican gets bashed not just by the Liberal MSM but by their conservative counterpart.

Your anger is understandable but the seeds was planted by the same people who are now determined to put Trump in the White House. We are there because of them. Be angry, very angry at how they have brought us to where we are now.

      • Jim Bird  •  May 27, 2016 at 2:13 am

REPUBLICAN SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN NANI – not talk radio. Paul Ryan would've been great to do 10-minute daily rebuttals about the Marxist in the Oval Office. WHO GAVE OBAMA THE RIGHT TO BE A DICTATOR. REPUBLICANS WERE AND STILL ARE SILENT. WHAT YOU AND OTHERS DON'T GET IS THE GOP IS NO MORE – IT IS OVER AND DONE WITH – FINISHED. REPUBLICANS HAVE NO ONE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2016. THAT'S A FIRST. A VERY LARGE PERCENTAGE OF REPUBLICANS WILL NEVER VOTE AGAIN, I PERSONALLY KNOW OVER 200 OF US WHO ARE THROUGH, FED-UP WITH THE LIEING COWARDS IN THE GOP. WE WILL NEVER BE SCREWED AGAIN. They are literally boring liars who never have a platform or stand for anything. They have no interest in the direction of the country, rule of law or the Constitution.
Obama and Hillary belong in prison for crimes against humanity and the GOP says NOTHING, NOT ONE THING. There will obviously be WWIII now against the jihadists that Obama has given nukes to and continues to fund their armies yearly with hundreds of billions of dollars. I don't know if America has the guts to fight totalitarianism in this country or not. Civil War here is probably an even bet. I think the only job that would get Millenials away from their cradle-to-grave welfare checks now would be as Brown Shirts for Obama's People's Police Force which is another idea he campaigned on.
Quite simply, the GOP/RNC does NOTHING, NO THING that's the slightest bit interesting. They don't do anything except beg for our votes every 2 years. I'm no longer angry Nani. There's no country left to be angry at, just a downward ever-increasing rapid decline into some medieval Dark Ages nightmare of a world at war.

      • Nani  •  May 29, 2016 at 5:37 pm

Jim, I totally agree with you on Obama and I share your frustration but I want to share with you something in Derek Hunter's column today:

"Republicans win the House, and we expect to have a conservative agenda enacted the next week. Add a slim majority in the Senate four years later, and we get angrier when Obamacare isn’t repealed while Obama is president. Government never has worked that way – liberals fought for decades to get us where we are now, and we abandon the team the minute the first-round draft pick doesn’t lead us to the Super Bowl. "

And you're absolutely right about the GOP being no more. But that leaves ONE party to make the rules and take away our rights. We either lay down or we LEARN.

        What HAVE we learned?

      • Rizzo  •  May 30, 2016 at 10:08 am

        Nani

Per usual, you focus on the wrong things. The KEY LINE IS: "liberals fought for decades to get us where we are now". And throughout those decades, WE SUPPORTED OUR TEAM. What has that support gotten us NANI? This country has been on a steady, incremental slide toward leftist hell for almost my entire lifetime. Our team has done very little to stop it… And it's not because they can't stop it, most don't want to stop it. Why did our team not FIGHT FOR DECADES to promote our values and our agenda? Everything has a breaking point, and after decades of not fighting for conservative values, many of us have reached ours. We did NOT abandon our team… Our team abandoned us. And while Trump is imperfect, at least he has shown a willingness to fight and not go along to get along.

Micheal, you have quite the nerve pushing out a clickbait headline. You profess to be above the lowlife practices that fund liberal (and conservative) causes, but this article is an example of how you are just another talking head who thinks his opinion counts more than mine.

Next time you want to post an article, how about including some real content, something more than rhetoric, with provable facts. If you can't do that, you are no better than the liberal MSM.

I used to like your radio show when they had it on at drive time here in Chicagoland. It seems you've veered astray of your well thought out opinions that provided motivation to me to change the opinions of centrist liberals. Hope you get back on track soon and don't become another blathering liberal talking head.

  6. LHunka  •  May 27, 2016 at 10:52 am

Michael, Ive said it before and again one more time….I used to listen to you because you presented a balanced, intelligent show. Now you act like that damned spoiled kid next door that cries and yells because you did not get the toy you wanted or your way in everything. Jesus! Just shut up. You don't support a third party, you don't support Trump (I'm not excited about him either) and yet you don't nominate a replacement.

You seem to think that all is well in the Republican held congress, yet Obama still gets away with everything he tries, e.g. Iran deal shown to be a bogus deal and no push back from congress, the deficit keeps growing ($20,000,000,000,000) and you cheer the budget deal as being the smallest in years!!, appropriations bill is blocked by congress own members, transgender (3/10 of 1% of the population) bathroom rights that dominate every conscience mind today, Obama traveling the world destroying our image because of some preconceived concept in his mind, etc. And yet you are dismayed by the emergence of a Trump?!

I'm not going to bloviate or pontificate like Nani….I will just say that I agree with Jim Bird's 2:13 AM post (he must be really agitated at that hour of the morning). He has it right.

I know your opinion Michael, now you know mine.

For all the comments posted here not once have I seen Medved reply,he likes to throw things out then sit back and watch what happens. He is not a conservative nor does he honor the constitution he is a coward and I am sure has had lots of name calling so this wouldn't faze him.the ratings I know are down for him and it will be a good day when his joke of a show goes off air,no more acting childish calling people names or making fun of them while ignoring facts.there is no reason to act that way.
So maybe it's time to grow up and treat others as you would want to be treated no matter what the other person may think or say show more respect which is seriously lacking

    Ref: Geez Michael
So, on the freeway and stuck in traffic which takes 1 hour to drive 4 miles through Pasadena, CA, at 2:30 in the pm and an hour later I've matriculated another 11 miles.
I hear Michael's last caller on this Friday pm before Memorial Day give Michael a great idea for fixing the VA. All Vets get a pass to good doctors in the private sector and close the VA. Michael's reply, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! We have a tradition going back hundreds of years…….YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANY HOSPITALS IN THE FIELDS OF WAR?!……..Do yuh?…, well we're outta time."
Michael, you once again jump to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT ISSUE. Vets die in VA Hospitals waiting 6 months to get an EKG or by constantly getting misdiagnosed! This is the way it's been for the last 50 years. The VA will NEVER BE FIXED – IT IS ALWAYS LIKE THIS! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS AND NURSES IN THE FIELD THOUGH!! For Christ sakes, are you really going to vote Hillary, will it make you feel better? Do it and get on with your life now and stop destroying your ratings. You're the one saying Trump will lose 45 to 50 states; what are you worried about?
VA doctors have very little interest in their chosen profession. They are g o v e r n m e n t employees. Since your business is govt. commentary and not business, your life experience is outside the real world apparently. That guy's idea is a perfect solution to a horrendous problem and you cannot see how it benefits everyone – Geez, Mike!
