Two Rallies, Two World Views

March-for-LifeMarch for Life 2013

Media bias emerged in particularly glaring terms in coverage of two Washington rallies. On January 25th, more than 500,000 people joined the “March for Life” to observe the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. The next day, planners of the “Million Mom March Against Guns” sought an even bigger turnout, but drew only 6,000 participants with signs like “Repeal the 2nd Amendment.”

Amazingly, media treated the two events as comparably significant or, in the case of the New York Times, emphasized the anti-gun event. Most reporters, however, missed the moment when an organizer listed mass shootings and declared “they all began with a gun.” In other words, the left sees an inanimate object, not human agency, as the source of evil, while their unwavering support for abortion treats any unborn child as just another inanimate object.

    Mr. Medved,
You have a wonderfully simple and intelligent way of shining the light of truth on the important issues that we are facing. Thank you.

      Well said Patrick.

It is an absolute travesty that tv, radio, print and internet media can be so biased with their reporting without any consequences for their prejudices. They should be able to be held resposnible and liable, with consequences, for their lack of truth in their reporting.

And now, if only I could spell correctly!!!

Thank you for covering the March for Life. My 8th grader niece took a bus to DC to “save babies” She was with the group in the photo on your website carrying the big yellow balloons and the yellow “LIFE” sign. What a sad commentary on our population that it received so little coverage.

As an aside, I was supposed to see you in Chicago late last year with the WIND lineup but got sick. My sisters went and you kindly signed a program for my. I have framed it and am proud to have it.

Just purchased your entire history series. Cant wait ’till it arrives!

Thank you for making note of these two events. I don’t understand how the republicans did not see the opportunity to jump on the War on Women and use it against the Pro-Choice lefties with the War on “little” Women campaign. Why didn’t more people see the absurdity of the left screaming about women’s rights for pro-choice and the absolute absence of rights for extremely innocent and vulnerable babies.

My theory is that they do see it but choose to not acknowledge it because they are all in the “cool” liberal club and in most instances in whatever profession they are apart of, you have to be a member – just like the unions. Media, Entertainment, Academia…. Phonies all. And I am guessing that most of them were also geeks or unpopular when they were young – therefore the reason for the hatred.

    Dear Mr. Medved and All,
My sister Susan beat me to a comment here. Yes, it was my beautiful 14-year-old and 275 of her friends from St. John Cantius Church in Chicago that are there creating the sea of yellow in the back end of the picture you published. I didn’t think I could be any more proud of her on that day as I watched on ONLY ETWN TV the coverage and saw all those HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people marching for the sanctity of LIFE and my daughter was amongst them. Thank you so much for pointing out this obvious and ANNUAL bias in the coverage of such an immense and again ANNUAL event!
    Sincerely,
    Janet Podczerwinski

    VIRALITY and Amerika

Your confusing reality with ‘virality’…what did Pope Benedict recently say in Rome when shown an Apple IPad; “The Virtual is the Real.” The Media and Left know this and if nothing proves it, this election cinches the argument. Virtual Reality, or VIRALITY is what matters today. Whenever the consumer of virality unwittingly bumps into the real thing (facts), a voice booms all around from on high, like in that classic movie and instructs the masses; “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. I am the great and powerful Oz.” And know what; WE DONT PAY ANY ATTENTION!

Michael, you are so wrong. You keep arguing facts. Facts just dont matter anymore. HE WON AGAIN! DEMOKRATS WON AGAIN in the a bald face, full view, frontal assault on every indicator to the contrary. You went over all of them in your book; ‘The odds against Obama.’ Tell me Mike, can you even give that thing away now as bathroom tissue (being nice here).

I like you…came to see you in Tampa…listen almost every day. But, you and RUSH and the rest just dont get it. HE WON AGAIN! The first time, OK. It was a fluke, a mistake, an over sight, people got hoodwinked…anything can happen. BUT HE WON AGAIN!

There is no other explanation that what matters today is VIRALITY and that the facts be damn. So keep tabulating and graphing and plotting and averaging and splitting the difference and wear that calculator pad out all you want. IT DONT MATTER ANYMORE! The sooner we on the Right understand that the sooner we too can get into this game. Chao

The life rally, like Stallin’s famine in Ukrain, never happened. It wasn’t covered. So what if it was the biggest rally of the year. It never happened. Saint Lucie county in Florida counted 72,000 extra votes. That never happened either. Our socialist concensus media throws facts onto the cutting room floor. They rehearse talking points for the public. Ther will be no news until we run out of other people’s money and we become one with GREECE.
