Voters Can Say “No” to Rail Boondoggles and Taxpayer Rip-Offs

email Email

Voters in California and Washington will decide this November whether it makes sense to sharply raise gas taxes while government squanders billions on unneeded rail lines.

In California, voters should support an initiative to overturn the liberal legislature’s latest tax increase and in Washington they can block a punishing new “carbon tax” that would raise rates every year, far into the future.

Unfortunately, California is already committed to a useless, hundred-billion-dollar “bullet train” initially set to connect Fresno and San Francisco in a trip of three hours – the time same it takes to drive that distance, at a fraction of the cost! Meanwhile, Seattle’s struggling light rail cost $300,000 per yard to build its first segment while traffic on neglected highways gets worse every year.

When the people speak in November, let’s say no to rail boondoggles and taxpayer rip-offs.

    Dear Mike,

Say it so! You are going to break Ty’s fragile heart.
    Boondoggle is Ty’s middle name.

I'm actually not super on board with the rail expansions, I used to be against them, but with increasing density in cities and ever worsening traffic, I think we need more mass transit now. But that is more city based, not between cities. I suspect with the expansion of electric planes for shorter distances, there will be less need for more rail and we could have more spread out airports to get around longer distances in the air. But I'm willing to experiment with everything to see what works best.

That last attitude and impulse though… not a strong suit for you conservative types. One of the problems from basing the entire universe of your actions from "first principles" from god or the founders or your mammy and pappy or whoever, is that if you don't already have a ready plan or face some new challenge, you just want to keep using the same tired old solutions to new problems.

I finally found an image that perfectly captures the ESSENCE of the conservative soul when facing a need or call to … wait for it… CHANGE something about society or anything else. An image that shows why avoiding change is preferable to being in the emotional state "change" would cause in those enlarged conservative fear generating overactive amygdalas.

Isn't it perfect? That, is how I see so many of you! Across the ages, that is what conservatives are.

      Liberals trying to remove DADT!

Conservatives: WAIT !!!!!! B-but if you do that, what about the unit cohesion, what will this "experiment" do to effectiveness?

(go click back on that link to the shaking mess)

Liberals pushed the CHANGE through, not a god damn negative thing happened, life moves on. This same thing happens across the ages, and it's why I can peer into the future and tell you all what would happen if the world every split between conservatives and liberals.

      • Ty  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 12:15 am

Liberal world after a thousand years.

      • Ty  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 12:17 am

Conservative world after a thousand years:

… ok, maybe I am being a little unfair. But they did stick to tradition!

      • Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 3:07 pm

Perhaps if libtards ever recommended something that was new and novel, then you might get more broad-based support. But, alas, you leftists NEVER do. It’s ALWAYS repackaged, socialist failures.
Your leftist’s experiments have all been done before, they failed miserably, and now here we are.

Ty, is exactly what you get, when history is believed to have begun the day you were born.

      • Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 3:56 pm

Aren’t leftists so new and novel, their favorite things are: trains, windmills, and pedal-cars aka bicycles…. 1000 year-old technology.

      • Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 10:37 pm

        Liberal World 5-years from now.

      • Rizzo  •  Aug 13, 2018 at 8:56 pm

Which leftist country has innovated anything?
Go checkout Cuba and their 1950’s car situation, or Venezuela, and their collapsing society.
It is only through free-market capitalism and we conservatives, who are trying to save it, has this world progressed at all.
Are you really that stupid, Ty?

  2. Armand  •  Aug 8, 2018 at 6:59 pm

Light rail scams, Bankster bailouts, QEd tech companies like Facebook that serve the global left….oh yeah and America’s “buddy”

    • Rizzo  •  Aug 8, 2018 at 9:23 pm

You have a lot of opinions, for a guy who lives in a pansy-ass, neutral, inconsequential country.

  3. Armand  •  Aug 8, 2018 at 9:44 pm

I have a lot of facts(you have verified, proven inaccurate statements)
Switzerland has the longest male life expectancy on the planet(25% of the people aren’t even citizens), and is home to the central bank of all central banks, the Bank for International Settlements(basically the command center for the entire planet)

  4. Rizzo  •  Aug 8, 2018 at 10:26 pm

Are you from Switzerland? Then NOBODY cares what you think, or what you say.
You literally don't matter at all. You never have, and never will have any impact on ANYTHING.
YOU are pathetically inconsequential…. So yipe all you want little doggie.

  5. Armand  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 12:05 am

Unlike you, I can read The Economist, and th results of the OECD-PISA without calling someone “moron”(which you objectively are).
When the gulf Arab states collapse, the Chinese dump their us treasuries(Russia already has) and begin the massive VWAP buy into mid cap and smaller US energy players with their massive dollar holdings forcing the SEC/CME/NYSE to freeze Chinese equity injections, you won’t be saying that.
oh yeah, the flat tax Eurasian empire will be run from Basel, Zurich and Bern.
The leftist QE petrodollar bankster state will collapse and you’ll be wishing you lived on lago de ceresio

    • Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 7:25 am

What a delusional moron you are.

  6. Armand  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 12:07 am

From the economist(the magazine you clearly can’t read, but can you listen?)

  7. Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 7:32 am

Literally, NOBODY, under any circumstances would want to live on filthy-ass, polluted lago de ceresio.

  8. Armand  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 7:46 pm

Tell that to Ernesto berterelli and the citizens of Lugano

    • Rizzo  •  Aug 9, 2018 at 11:09 pm

Ok, next time I see him, I will tell the Italian born, Harvard educated billionaire, Ernesto Berterelli, that Lago de Ceresio is a filthy shit-hole.

      Happy, Adolf?

  9. Rizzo  •  Aug 10, 2018 at 9:27 am

Lago de Ceresio…. is that Italian for Lake of Cesspool?

  10. Armand  •  Aug 10, 2018 at 8:47 pm

No it’s not a shithole like Israel and the gulf Arab states are(America’s favorite countries).
But since we’ve established that Harvard’s students are less intelligent then those at Russian and Chinese universities as measured by years of ACM-ICPC championships, you can mock his Harvard Business School Background all you want.
The lake is quite nice though

  11. Rizzo  •  Aug 11, 2018 at 12:44 pm

“Russian and Chinese universities as measured by years of ACM-ICPC championships,”

They can have their utterly meaningless “championships”. Harvard, and Ernesto will take the REAL CHAMPIONSHIPS of life, called being a BILLIONAIRE.

  12. Armand  •  Aug 11, 2018 at 8:08 pm

With the petrodollar collapse following the coming Saudi implosion it will be hard for the lower IQ Americans to keep printing fake(QE money) money as the us has done following its anti-capitalist bank bailout and subsequent equity inflation via fiat money printing. The billionaires like the democrat criminals Paul Allen, Jeff bezos, zuckerberg, Buffett, dimon, musk are parasite losers not “winners”
You’re stupid rizzo and yu cant read

  13. Rizzo  •  Aug 12, 2018 at 1:47 am

You get back to me, when your "petrodollar collapse" wet dream comes true, ok?

  14. Armand  •  Aug 13, 2018 at 8:56 am

Get back to me when you actually say something that’s correct while not chiding the informed speaker with “moron,” or “idiot;” words that best describe you.
The petrodollar “wetdream” is already happening. Saudi Arabia, a nation with the 3rd largest military budget on Earth is imploding. Only the QE bailout/bankster theft benefitting US banks and automakers and tech companies kept the us afloat after the banksters completely melted the us economy 10-9 years ago. Now there are no tools to bailout that lovely us ally(the Gulf Arab world) who historically since 1973 created a demand for us fiat funny money.

    • Rizzo  •  Aug 13, 2018 at 4:09 pm

Get back to me, when anything you say or do matters.
You are an insignificant turd, from a meaningless and inconsequential country.

Literally, the Iowa National guard could wipe you off the map…. best of all, NOBODY would even notice or care.

  15. Armand  •  Aug 14, 2018 at 7:12 pm

The Iowa national guard is funded with how many trillions of dollars printed at 0% for how many years? A strong state does not inflate corporate equity prices by expanding the money supply after bailing out failed banks(supposedly subject to capitalist market principals)

  16. Rizzo  •  Aug 15, 2018 at 11:07 pm

Regardless of who, what, when or how the Iowa National guard is funded, they would literally wipe Switzeland from existence.

That's the reality you face, when you come from a neutral, pansy-ass country.

  17. Armand  •  Aug 16, 2018 at 3:57 pm

Iowa can’t self fund its national guard with is magnitudes of aircraft, armor and men smaller then then the Swiss military.
Iowa needs millions in federal dollars just to maintain its rather unimpressive road and bridge infrastructure. The us federal govenent needs the semi private federal reserve to expand the mo why supply by $30trillion im just 9 years to recapitalize companies like GM, Boeing and all the banks. Not the actions of a strong or stable state
The Iowa air national guard could fit into the Swiss airforces smallest base at buochs

    • Rizzo  •  Aug 18, 2018 at 9:18 am

The Swiss couldn’t defend itself out of a wet, paper bag.
They are the biggest joke military, perhaps ever, populated by bunch on inconsequential, neutral pansy-asses!
      Please don’t make me laugh!
