When Political Organizations Celebrate Murder

When political operations maintain social media accounts, those forums can expose the true nature of the sponsoring organizations. For instance, the Fatah faction that has ruled the Palestinian Authority for more than twenty years recently posted a comment on one official site that claimed as a “magnificent achievement” the “killing of 11,000 Israeli Jews.” The organization also demanded credit and praise for “offering up” 170,000 Palestinian lives as “sacred martyrs” to the cause of independence. These numbers are wildly exaggerated – by a factor of nearly 10 – even if you count all of Israel’s recent fights with Hamas and Hezbollah.

The fundamental problem involves the tragic flaw in Palestinian culture, which honors murder, mayhem and martyrdom above the difficult, down-to-earth work of building benevolent institutions and pursuing reconciliation. Palestinian propaganda deploys the slogan: “We will win because we love death more than you love life.” That’s precisely why they will lose, and deserve to lose, in their determination to obliterate Israel.
