Went to this based on your positive comments. Saw it in RPX and we loved it!!! Note that we usually go for sure when most reviewers say something stinks. We always enjoy those movies so…

p.s. The George Washington bridge was not tipped like in the picture above though. Having been on the Empire State Building so many times as I grew up in NJ, I especially liked looking for landmarks.

If I took the positive rating components of the review and reversed them, I would agree. I always try to go to scifi movies before the reviews spoil the original ideas. This was so ho hum it was very disapointing. The fact that they properly did not bother to put this in 3D says it all.

This movie….my goodness this movie was awful! Don’t get me wrong, it was such a visually stunning movie and Tom Cruise was quite excellent, but the cliche narration, absurd plot, uneven acting, and slow pace got to me more than any type of imagery could. So upset at the people who gave this positive reviews because it was….eh.

Over-all I liked the film and the idea behind it. There are a lot of references to other sci-fi films, for example when Cruise finds the ape doll. It reminded me of the scene in Planet of the Apes where a human doll is found in ancient ruins. There were many other internal references for sci-fi fans. A space ship is called “Odyssey”, etc.

I really enjoyed this movie. I have to say that the ending wasn’t completely satisfying for me, but it was very thought-provoking. I was drawn into the film and characters and the effects were very well done (not to mention the drones, “planes,” etc., were quite cool). The “villian” was sufficiently creepy, too (“Are we still an effective team?”)
