Your review confuses a very sincere TV star with a quite horrible movie. Fred Rogers’ biggest claim to fame was convincing John Pastore (who was already in a fight with the Nixon administration that was trying to roll back some of the excesses of the Johnson Administration including PBS and the CPB) to double down on spending for PBS. His approach to child development was to recognize the value of each child – but the movie over-rates both the evils of children’s television before Rogers and his role in turning it around. Before Mr Rogers there was Ding Dong School and several other quality programs. Dr. Francis Horowitz (Miss Francis) broke ground in the early days of TV on a commercial station (and indeed ultimately on the network). There are plenty of other examples of quality children’s TV.

looks like such a happy movie. I'm glad nothing ever was unearthed about him that would make him look bad, he was too wholesome for us.
