A Conservative Wave Next Tuesday?

Left wing activists are beginning to panic--even worrying about the state of Maine, as the desperate email below (presented unedited) clearly indicates.

The liberal activists acknowledge that they've gone "0 for 33" in statewide votes on gay marriage. If they go "0 for 34" on Tuesday, will they think about taking this strikeout issue out of the line-up?

Dear friend,

Call for Equality logoI just got back from Maine, where I spent the last week and a half blogging on the ground about the No On 1/Protect Maine Equality campaign. Your contributions to send me to Maine made it possible for me to spread the importance of the campaign to protect the state's marriage equality law.

You also helped raise nearly $1.3 million online for the No On 1 campaign, and I saw first-hand in Maine how it's given the campaign the resources they need. However, the fight isn't over yet, and money can only go so far. Now the campaign needs your voice- literally!- to finish the job.

Can you devote a few hours to Call for Equality?

Call for Equality is a program set up by the campaign where you can make calls from wherever you are to Maine voters, and tell them how important marriage equality is. No experience is required, and the campaign will provide full training and talking points. All you need is a phone and internet connection.

I saw how many parts of Maine are very rural, where field organizers can't effectively spend time. The only way for a real person to reach them is by phone. There are still tens of thousands of Maine voters to talk to, and we have to make sure they vote NO on 1.

You can make a difference by signing up to Call for Equality.

This is not just about marriage -- it is a campaign that affects us all. One win or loss for the conservative movement affects grassroots enthusiasm, donor funding, and general support for other initiatives- from health care to climate change. The result in Maine will affect the entire movement.

We're 0/33 at the national level in statewide marriage equality votes. A win or loss in Maine will affect us all. We have to go all in to break that streak.

Give a few hours of your time to break that streak and win in Maine.

In solidarity,
