Dear Michael, I am so sick of the actions of our President, and the socialists in charge of CA government. I am literally sick to my gut. I live in the San Bernardino Mountains, between Crestline and Lake Arrowhead, and our Assembly District is one of a few red spots in the state. You may recognize our Assemblyman Tom Donnelly for his recent appearance in the primary. The following was a message he sent yesterday to constituents. I thought it might interest you as an aspect of events that are taking place as a result of the chaotic presidential decisions.
Thank you for your program. George K Williams, Twin Peaks, Ca.

Assemblyman Donnelly Says The Best Way To Protect These Children
Is To Return Them To Their Parents

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly demands answers from the directors of California Child Protective Services, California Border Patrol, Riverside Child Protective Services and the Executive Director of the United State Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) regarding the immigrant children who were bussed and now housed in California.

In a letter addressed to the Directors of each agency, Donnelly states, “We have a moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable among us. I can think of no group at greater risk than “unaccompanied minors” – these children are alone and their parents are thousands of miles away. The Border Patrol is reporting that nearly one third of the girls, ages 10-14, have been raped during their journey to our country, and many of them are now pregnant. This is unconscionable.”

Donnelly continues, “these children are being sent to our country by the drug cartels with only a phone number of a contact in our state. The Border Patrol have been instructed they are not to check the backgrounds or immigration status of the contacts state side…in other words, our government has completed the drug cartels communication ring at taxpayer expense and no government agency is doing their duty to prevent this from happening.”

From health concerns to financial concerns, there are many questions which must be answered regarding these unaccompanied minors.
Please view the letter (POSTED BELOW) for a complete list of Assemblyman Donnelly’s questions and concerns regarding the recent events in Murrieta, Ca.

    Mr. Will Lightbourne, Director
    California Health and Human Services
    744 P Street
    Sacramento, Ca 95814

    Dear Mr. Lightbourne,
With the recent events in Murrieta, Ca regarding the multiple busses carrying nearly 200 children being flown into our state, I cannot help but express a concern this influx will have on our broken Child Welfare System, putting the well-being of all our children at risk. What gravely concerns me with yesterday’s events is that our struggling system will be so overwhelmed with hundreds of children, essentially orphaned in our state, that the California Child Welfare System will have more tragedies like the death of Gabriel Fernandez.

News stations are reporting these children are to be “processed” and “released.” There have also been credible reports these children are being sent to our country by the drug cartels with only a phone number of a contact in our state. The Border Patrol have been instructed they are not to check the backgrounds or immigration status of the contacts state side…in other words, our government has completed the drug cartels communication ring at taxpayer expense and no government agency is doing their duty to prevent this from happening.

    I want to know:
To whom these children are being released?
Have the family members these children are being released to had background checks to ensure we are releasing these children into the care of individuals who are illegally present in our country, and by the very nature of their status, are unable to provide the safety an stability these children desperately need?
Children who do not have family in California will be released where?
What sort of action plans are in place by the individual County Child Services, particularly in Riverside county, for this influx of children which is reported to continue for several days?
We have a moral obligation to protect the most vulnerable among us. I can think of no group at greater risk than “unaccompanied minors” – these children are alone and their parents are thousands of miles away. The Border Patrol is reporting that nearly one third of the girls, ages 10-14, have been raped during their journey to our country, and many of them are now pregnant. This is unconscionable.

Rather than dump these children on our streets to become victims again, we need to do what is in their best interest which is to restore them to their natural parents in their home countries. Study after study irrefutably indicate that children who are raised by their birth parents, even if they are imperfect or living in difficult circumstances, have a better chance of achieving long–term success if the family unit stays intact.

I fear the children who we have worked hard to protect through our current Audit of the Child Welfare System have been put in even more jeopardy with yesterday’s mass influx of more children in our state.

I thank you for your quick response to this urgent matter.

    Godspeed,

    Tim Donnelly
    Assemblyman; 33rd District

    Michelle Wohl- Riverside Regional Manager
    Laurel Brown-Deputy Director
